Greenshot is a tool of screenshot open source that allows you to easily create and maintain screenshots.
When you run the installer, it's clear that it's not just another screen capture program. Optional plugins include Office, Imgur, Confluence, an OCR plugin (but Microsoft Office Document Imaging is required), etc.
By pressing PrtSc, you can capture regions, windows, or full screen, then automate what happens next with just a few clicks. For example, the image can be copied to the clipboard or printed, or it can be opened in your favorite image editor. You can bring up a Save As popup or have Greenshot automatically save the file using the selected settings, which can save you a lot of time if you have a lot of captures to do.
However, opening your screenshots in Greenshot's native editor is the easiest method. This allows you to resize, rotate and crop photographs, as well as add annotations such as rectangles and ellipses, lines, arrows, text boxes and callouts.
A powerful set of effects lets you highlight certain parts of the input, hide others, and add borders, drop shadows, torn edges, and more.
When done, you can save the file, print it, email the image, and more with just a few clicks.
Everything is really simple to use, light and flexible; if you don't like something about the app, you can probably change it. Capture type, destination, printer settings, default filename, JPEG compression, and whether or not to include the mouse pointer in a capture are all easily adjustable to suit your needs.
