TeraCopy is a free program that lets you copy and move data faster and more securely. Slow copy speed is one of the most common complaints about new versions of Windows, especially when transferring large files over the network. This tool may be just what you need if you want to speed up your copying or if you frequently transfer large amounts of data and need to interrupt the operation to perform another disk-intensive task.

  • After copying the files, double check them.
  • Timestamps must be recorded.
  • Copies of locked files
  • Windows Explorer must be integrated.
  • When the transfer is complete, run a shell script.
  • Checksum files must be generated and verified.
  • Safely delete files
  • Integrated into a commercial framework
  • File lists can be edited.
  • Organize your favorite folders
  • Reports can be exported in HTML or CSV formats.

TeraCopy was created to copy and move files as quickly as possible. It skips bad files while copying and displays them at the end of the transfer so you can see which ones need to be fixed. TeraCopy can check for defects in copied files by calculating their CRC checksum values. It also gives you a lot more information about the files you're copying than the Windows version. The software works with the Windows Explorer context menu and can be set as the default copy manager.

Strengths and features

Problems can be resolved quickly.

If a copy error occurs, the utility will attempt to recover and, in the worst case, simply ignore the faulty file, rather than terminating the transfer. It can also wait for a network or device reconnection. For speed up the transfer, unnecessary files can be skipped. During the process, the tool displays the defects found and allows you to correct the problem by recopying only the problematic files.

Data verification

The program can recheck the files after they are copied to confirm that they are identical. The hashes of the source and target files are compared. CRC32, MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512, Panama, Tiger, RipeMD, Whirlpool, and xxHash are all supported algorithms.

Drag and drop confirmation

Each drag and drop operation may be accompanied by a confirmation dialog. This can help you avoid mistakenly transferring folders from one area to another.

a more efficient workflow

The program can keep track of recently used directories and show currently open folders in Explorer or other file managers.

Integration with the hull

The program can completely replace Explorer's copy and move functions, allowing you to continue working with files as usual.
